In addition to short essays that bring a humanist lens to sport, you’ll get digests of articles, podcasts, and other happenings around the world of running, sport, and endurance.
Really thought-provoking writing about life from a runner's perspective -- I always love it when Sam's latest lands in my inbox.
— Terrell Johnson, The Half Marathoner
I always look forward to reading Sam’s thoughts on running and life. He keeps me grounded as a runner and a human being. There is always some new insight he shares that helps me see things from a different perspective which I love.
— Rizwan Javaid, Low Fidelity
Our story
Breakfast Club began as a weekly run in the rolling hills of the San Francisco East Bay. The run’s early morning start time led to our name, and a weekly missive evolved into the newsletter before you today.
Essays are written by me, Sam Robinson, a content designer, writer, and runner. I’ve published work in Outside, Trail Runner Magazine, and other outlets. Before that, I studied history at Berkeley where I earned my doctorate with a focus on early modern European intellectual and religious history. I ran for Furman University, where I studied philosophy and history.
